5 Easy Tips That May Help Increase Your Google AdSense Revenue
We read somewhere that 99% of all online publishers who run Google AdSense ads make less than $10 a month. Don’t know if that’s true or not — doesn’t really concern us much since we’re not in that group — but still, it’s an absolutely safe bet that most AdSense publishers could stand to make more money from it.
And no, we’re not gurus at this, but we’re pretty darned good observers… and readers. There’s no shortage of tips out there (many direct from the Google AdSense site itself!) that do help.
Here, in our experience and observation and in no particular order, are the top 5 easy-to-implement techniques and practices you can put to work right now that will very likely help boost your Google AdSense revenue.
Seamlessly blend and merge the AdSense ads with your site’s content’s look. If your site has a white background, black text, and blue links, then make your AdSense ads look exactly the same way. The point is to make it look less like an ad and more like site content, so folks won’t automatically block them out and skip over them.
Remove borders. See above. Borders scream “hey, don’t look at me; I’m an advertisement!”
Post ads at the top of the fold. The “fold” is the bottom of the first screen of information, so what this means is you want the ads to appear above it, or on the first screen a visitor to a webpage sees. Majority of visitors won’t scroll down past the fold, so if you want their eyeballs, better put the ads on the part of the page where they have the best probability of being seen.
Try using a large rectangle text ad embedded into your content if you can. Lots of publishers claim that one of the large rectangle ad formats will generate the most clickthroughs.
Keep testing! Regardless of what anyone says will work, you’ll also want to try different things to see what works best for your site and its design. Mix it up a bit and see what happens! After all, it’s not like you can’t go back to the way things were if a test doesn’t pan out.
