Google AdWords’ Quality Score has often been a mystery to many online marketers. But many AdWords experts agree that there are three main components to achieving a high Quality Score and lowering your minimum cost per click — your ad copy, your clickthrough rates (CTR) and your landing page copy.

Here are four easy steps you can take to boost your Quality Score and get lower minimum costs per click:

1. Include Your Keywords in Your Ad Copy

Having your keywords in your ad title and body copy is one of the keys to writing a relevant ad. Also, this simple act makes your keywords bolded and gives it more prominence among the listings, improving your CTR and lowering your costs per click. It’s a ‘vicious’ cycle!

2. Include Your Keywords in Your URL

Include your keywords in your URL. Again, this has been proven to increase CTR and that is one of the strongest determinants of a good Quality Score — the clickthrough rates.

3. Increase Your Clickthrough Rates by Split-Testing Your Ad Copy

Write two different ads and have them rotate evenly. You can do this under your Campaign options. Doing this will show you which ad is performing better and getting a better clickthrough rate. Always create new ads to test against your ‘control’ ad, or your current best performing ad.

4. Include Your Keywords on Your Landing Page

Landing page relevancy is another important factor of Quality Score. Having your keywords on your landing page indicates relevancy and it allows you to pay lower costs per click.

By Yves Juliaan

A great way for webmasters to monetize their websites is through Google AdSense. Many webmasters struggle to earn some good money through their sites. But on the other hand, some of the “geniuses” among them are enjoying hundreds of dollars from Google AdSense ads on their websites and blogs. What sets these webmasters apart from other webmasters is that they think out of the box.

Those who’ve done it and are still doing it as we speak have quite a few useful tips to help those who want to venture into this field. Some of these tips have boosted website earnings through AdSense quite significantly in the past and continue to deliver results.

Here are the 5 best proven ways on how to best optimize your Google AdSense earnings:

TIP #1: The AdSense Format

The one format that has worked very well for me in the past, and still delivers today, is the so-called Large Rectangle (336×280). This format has resulted in higher clickthrough rates (or CTR). Meaning more visitors out of 100 click on my AdSense ads. The reason for this format outperforming others is that the links in this format look more like Web links than ad links. A lot of people tend to avoid clicking on ads when they spot them. Choosing this format helps make your audience ‘ad-blind.’

I’ve also had good results with the Medium Rectangle (300×250) on some occasions. Open your AdSense account and have a look at the format. It resembles the Large Rectangle format. Your best bet is to test the two and see which one outperforms the other on your site. I suggest to test both for at least a week.

TIP #2: Custom Color Palette

Create a custom color palette to match the main colors of your site. You will see a tremendous increase in AdSense earnings if you make your AdSense ads look exactly like the standard Web links on your site. If your links are blue, make the AdSense links blue. If the background is white, make the background as well as the border of your AdSense ad white too. Your ad will look as if it is part of your site and will not look like a block of ads people avoid.

Here’s another color tip; use it if you understand what I mean. I’ll give an example. I have a site with several articles on it. All the articles have a green title and the text is grey. The links on the site are all blue. But, my visitors are really interested in the articles I’ve published. So what I did is change all my AdSense color palettes on that site to green links with grey text. All the ads look like little previews of articles. I can’t prove it, but my earnings increased by 400% on that site from then on. Again, not all sites are created equal… If you know what I mean.

TIP #3: AdSense Position

What I recommend is that if you have AdSense ads at the bottom of your site, remove them, or move them to the top. You want people to click. And if I tell you that most people are active “above the fold,” meaning don’t even bother to scroll down, than you want your ads to be in plain sight at all times. If your ads are at the bottom, move them to the top. Put them where people can see them quickly.

TIP #4: Use Channels

Channels help you analyze ad performance. Use custom channels to check what webpages are making more money and which ones are obviously not doing so well. Custom channels can be used to analyze multiple factors at the same time. Use this analysis for making changes to your AdSense ads. Improving website content can also get you better results. If you can get people interested in more, chances are high they will also be interested (and will therefore click on) the related information and offers on your AdSense ads.

TIP #5: Limit the Filters

Filters are useful for blocking ads that you do not want displayed on your website (e.g., ads of competitors). You can filter out ads you think are not paying you well by entering the domain names of these ads in the competitive ad filter feature of your AdSense account. However, too many filters can seriously limit your revenue earning potential from AdSense ads. So, keep your use of filters to a minimum.

These are some of the tips that have worked well for me on all of my sites. But don’t forget that your content is equally — if not the most — important part to increase AdSense earnings. Now it’s up to you. Implement these tips, and test and see what works best using channels.

There are tons of ways to use Internet marketing to make money online. One of the best and most reliable ways is PPC marketing. PPC (pay per click) marketing is a powerful tool in the hands of an affiliate marketer. You can get a constant stream of visitors to your site and increase ROI (return on investment) by more than 300%!

The biggest PPC marketing showcase is Google. You may have noticed a column of ads on the right hand side of your search page. Those are PPC ads. People sign up for Google AdWords, create those ads and they are shown on Google under specific keywords.

The AdWords user must pay Google every time someone clicks on his ad. The cost per click varies and depends on the keyword competition. A low competition keyword may cost you a few pennies per click. A more competitive keyword, on the other hand, may cost you 30 cents to a dollar per click.

The most popular way to make money with PPC is with affiliate marketing. PPC allows you to send people straight to a sales page. If that person buys the product, you get your commission. Unfortunately it is a little more complicated than that. You have to be aware of your cost to make sure you do not spend more money on clicks than you get in commissions. A lot of people never use PPC because they are afraid of losing money. The truth is, if you manage your account correctly you can make a lot of money using PPC.

If you are advertising something that will make you $25 a sale, then you need to learn the conversion rate of the site. Most sites will gladly give you this information if you email them.

Let’s say the site converts 2% of the people that visit it. So it is safe to assume that one out of every 50 people will make a purchase. You should not pay any more than 50 cents per click. 50 cents will get exactly 50 people there with $25. As long as you do not pay too much for your ads, you will not lose much money. By sticking to those guidelines you greatly reduce any risk of losing money.

The best thing about PPC is that when you get a successful ad running, you can set it on autopilot and it will continue to make money for you. If you get several successful ads running on autopilot you will really see a substantial amount of money come in. This is called continual income and it is great because you make money all day and night, even while you sleep!

Anyone can make money with PPC. All it takes is knowledge, research, and the will to succeed. If you want to increase your affiliate checks and make more money, PPC is for you.

By Douglas Hanna

If you’re interested in making money with Internet marketing, the fastest and easiest way to do this, in my opinion, is with Google AdSense.

If you’re not familiar with AdSense, they are the little ads that you see on many webpages that consist of a headline, two lines of text and a URL.

When you put AdSense on your webpages and people click on them, Google pays you for each click. Some of these clicks pay as much as $2 or $3 while others might pay as little as five cents or less.

How to Get Started With Google AdSense

To put Google AdSense on your website or blog, you must first sign up with Google AdSense and be approved to set up an account.

After you fill in all the blanks and submit your site or blog, Google will actually crawl it to make sure it qualifies for AdSense. This means that your website should probably have at least 10- 12 pages and your blog should have a fair number of posts.

After You are Approved

Once you have been approved by Google, you will need to go to the Google Overview page and click on AdSense Setup, which is where you create your AdSense ads or ad units. You will want to choose AdSense for Content and your ad unit should be Text ads only. Click Continue and you will then choose your format — which can be anything from a 728×90 Leaderboard down to a 125×125 button.

You will also need to specify styles for your border, title, background, text, and URL.

Most webmasters have found that the best producing format is the 300×250 Medium Rectangle with no border, a blue title, no background, black text and a colored URL. But this can vary from site to site and, ultimately, you will have to experiment and find the unit that generates the most revenue for you.

Next, you will be given the opportunity to create a Channel to track the performance of your AdSense units. Google allows you to choose up to five custom channels to track the performance of an ad unit.

You can name your channels just about anything, but it’s best to name them with reference to their size or their location on your webpages. For example, you might name one channel 300×200topleft. This is important because when you run your revenue reports, Google will report your earnings by Top Channels so that you can see which of your units are performing best and which are doing the worst, and you can then make changes accordingly.

The HTML Code

You will next go to a window with a Submit and Get Code button. Click on it and Google will provide the code for your AdSense unit. This code will be in HTML, which means you will have to find the HTML source code for your webpages so you can then insert the AdSense code in the appropriate place or places.

Experience has taught me that the optimal position for AdSense on my websites is the upper left-hand corner — either above or below the headline. But then, as with most anything in Internet marketing, you will need to experiment to see which AdSense unit in which positions generates the maximum revenue for you.

In Summary

Google AdSense can be an excellent revenue generator for the beginning Internet marketer. AdSense ad units are easy to create and place on your website and can earn you $100 a month or more — depending on the nature of your website or blog and the amount of traffic you can generate.

We read somewhere that 99% of all online publishers who run Google AdSense ads make less than $10 a month. Don’t know if that’s true or not — doesn’t really concern us much since we’re not in that group — but still, it’s an absolutely safe bet that most AdSense publishers could stand to make more money from it.

And no, we’re not gurus at this, but we’re pretty darned good observers… and readers. There’s no shortage of tips out there (many direct from the Google AdSense site itself!) that do help.

Here, in our experience and observation and in no particular order, are the top 5 easy-to-implement techniques and practices you can put to work right now that will very likely help boost your Google AdSense revenue.

Seamlessly blend and merge the AdSense ads with your site’s content’s look. If your site has a white background, black text, and blue links, then make your AdSense ads look exactly the same way. The point is to make it look less like an ad and more like site content, so folks won’t automatically block them out and skip over them.

Remove borders. See above. Borders scream “hey, don’t look at me; I’m an advertisement!”

Post ads at the top of the fold. The “fold” is the bottom of the first screen of information, so what this means is you want the ads to appear above it, or on the first screen a visitor to a webpage sees. Majority of visitors won’t scroll down past the fold, so if you want their eyeballs, better put the ads on the part of the page where they have the best probability of being seen.

Try using a large rectangle text ad embedded into your content if you can. Lots of publishers claim that one of the large rectangle ad formats will generate the most clickthroughs.

Keep testing! Regardless of what anyone says will work, you’ll also want to try different things to see what works best for your site and its design. Mix it up a bit and see what happens! After all, it’s not like you can’t go back to the way things were if a test doesn’t pan out.
